Hello Product Hunt! đź‘‹
Don’t you hate it when you have to find always-running web apps from hundreds of browser tabs? For example, most of us keep Google Calendar or Gmail open in browser tabs and then have to hunt for those tabs when needed. What if you could switch to them with `cmd/ctrl+tab`, or organize them in OS’ workspaces? That is all possible with desktop apps.
Frequently, however, the builders of these web apps do not have enough incentives to provide desktop apps. Even when official desktop apps are available, they sometimes lack coverage for platforms like Linux (for example, Notion provides official desktop apps for Mac and Windows but not for Linux).
DesktopApps.fun is aiming to fill that gap. We aim to provide unofficial desktop apps for all your favorite web apps.
Under the hood, DesktopApps.fun wraps each web app in a thin layer of ElectronJS to create *true* desktop apps. So you experience the same web app but with OS-native user experience.
I have been using desktop apps for ChatGPT, Google Calendar, Gmail, Jira, and Notion (Linux) in my everyday work, and I have been loving the OS native UX.
With this launch, our goal is to get feedback on our MVP and gauge interest from the community. So please try it today and let us know your experience. If you'd like to request a desktop app for your favorite web app, please let us know at https://DesktopApps.fun/request-...
