It was July, 2018. We were in Las Vegas at the annual Las Vegas Salsa Bachata super congress. It was a weekend trip with dance friends. A very close friend of mine was dancing Bachata with one guy and the guy licked my friend, neck to face, on the dance floor. She didn't know what else to do so she pushed him away and walked off. She told me later about this and I realized that misconduct at crowded events involving music and dancing was not that uncommon. Any action that is taken after the incident is only reactive and consolatory. So I started thinking about a proactive and preventative solution to the problem of misconduct at events and came up with Danctuary.
Danctuary uses facial recognition to identify its users, and trusts community feedback to identify and weed out bad actors.
It comes as a two-app product.
Danctuary - the anonymous feedback app used by event attendees to report misconduct at events. Reportable misconduct categories include Toxic behavior, Safety concern, and Sexual misconduct.
Danctuary Events - the check-in app used by event organizers to set up their event filter criteria and check people in to their event. People who get flagged by the event filter criteria of an event are denied entry into the event.
