One of the first apps to implement the Nostr protocol — with significant backing from Jack Dorsey and Ed Snowden — I've used Damus a few times and so far my impression is that this class of product sacrifices an enormous amount of usability and approachability in favor of security, decentralization, and censorship resistance. That's not to say that this kind of product can't evolve rapidly with a focus on usability now that it's landed in the App Store, but this seems to be akin to the Tor protocol in that it provides features that are important for some users, but somewhat out of reach for the mainstream. You can follow me here, but as you can see — public keys aren't exactly memorable! šŸ˜‚ https://damus.io/npub1lmpexpxy5k...

@chrismessina You were faster than me! šŸ¤™ The only sacrifice is not using NOSTR :D TOR is to hide your IP, NOSTR is a sensor free social protocol and Damus is the first iOS app, but there's plenty of clients (applications or websites) to connect and get the same data. Because data is not store on Damus server but instead on a myriad of relays (servers), so if you would like to censor someone, you'll need to convince all relays who have a copy of the data. It's secured by the same technology as Bitcoin, public key / npub (is like your address) and private key / nsec (is like your password). You can follow me: https://damus.io/npub1jgctkwga7h...
