The Universal Player learns what streaming service you use, then always shows you the song or album you’re looking for, in the way you're already paying to listen. Today, we want to highlight an amazing new way to use the Universal Player: Our Chrome Extension. It makes a lot of the internet listenable, however you like to listen. Cymbal’s Chrome Extension makes the internet work best for your streaming subscription, whatever it is. It replaces streaming embeds on any page with the Universal Player, that way you never have to run into a song you can’t listen to, in full and monetized, on the streaming service you pay for. Want to see it in action? Add it, then check out a music site like Pitchfork. You’ll find every identifiable Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer embed is now playable for you on your streaming service. @ciwk Awesome! Doubling down on the universal player route, wondering if you guys have considered bringing more service/library functionality into the app? Would prefer to not have to hop between Cymbal and Spotify for my social and normal listening.

The goal is to make the whole internet listenable, no matter what streaming service you use! Streaming services should be like cellular providers – nobody should be able to stop you from calling a T-Mobile user from a Verizon phone, but right now you can't send a song from a Deezer user to an Apple Music user. That sucks! The future has to be listenable, and this player is pointing in the direction of how to get there.

Pros:

As a Spotify subscriber, this means I never have to run into an Apple Music player on some site I can't listen to.

Cons:

Not enough integrations as of yet – Once Amazon, Google Play Music, Tidal, and others make streaming APIs available, it'll be next-level.
