@passingnotes that was my thought. It's explained thusly: "After hearing from a homeless neighbour “People don’t give me money because they just think I'll spend it on crack and cider.” we decided to give people a better way to help."
Still, kind of a bummer of a brand name IMO.
@chrismessina@passingnotes Hey guys, really appreciate your comments on this. We feel really strongly that so often we fail to address these contentious topics head-on, and in doing so, fail to really ignite the passion people feel around a certain social issue. We fully acknowledge the jarring nature of the name and, as I'm sure you'll have guessed, have consciously put the insight driving the whole project right at the heart of it, on the table, to spark a debate and invite people to address the painful, harming stereotypes. Unfortunately, the nature of our media world requires a bit of oomph to cause a stir and we believe that this topic most definitely needs a kick start to creep up the political agenda.
@passingnotes I like "jarring" - it gets people talking. This is a great cause, and I love the fact that it has a name that can spark a conversation. If they toned it down, they risk being ignored.
