Compelling idea, especially was targeted advertising and tracking becomes increasingly difficult. How much money can a user realistically earn, @samibaddar?

@rrhoover Hey Ryan :). It depends on the industry. Since it's a CPC auction, advertisers can bid on the same keywords and URLs, putting the price up considerably, even all the way up to $50 and more. This is standard in CPC auctions. The only difference is that traditional platforms keep all the cost incurred by the advertiser, whereas Comrade shares it back with users instantly, while always taking them to products of interest at the same time.

@rrhoover @mike_seekwell Comrade is not about making money. Its about improving the user's browsing experience by only delivering product recommendations that the users actually wants to engage with. The money that follows is a bonus for the user. That said, it is too early for us to know how much a user can earn.

@mike_seekwell @samibaddar understood! Although fwiw, the value prop to consumers is to get paid, not to get relevant product recommendations. Keen to see how this progresses! My instinct is that most consumers will make very little money so perhaps the incentive could be flipped around to something with higher perceived value. Of course you know the business and market much better than I do. Just riffing here. :)

@rrhoover I agree. The idea is to compensate consumers for their time and attention, not to give them a salary 😊. Just to give you an idea, we have users that have been using Comrade for about a month and their balances are between $20 and $25. At the same time, their time and attention is spent on content they actually want to engage with. From the advertiser's side, they are reaching consumers in the right place at the right time, with the right message. Everybody wins!

What prevents one from creating a simple script to run this on a VM and click ads in order to make money?

@benbrausen Another great question. That is actually the first thing we had to solve before we started working on Comrade. The fact that users are incentives in cash, we knew it was going to attract malicious actors. Comrade has many anti-fraud detection in place which we cannot discuss publicly for obvious reasons. Additionally, we will initiate simple KYC on the user's first withdrawal, assuring advertisers that they are always reaching a human being. Traditional advertising platforms deliver your ads on hundreds or even thousands of publisher websites, making it very hard to to mitigate fraud. On the other hand, advertisers running campaigns on Comrade are targeting single individuals, making it much easier for us to detect fraudulent activity from single users than trying to sift through thousands of publishers to see which are generating invalid impressions.

@samibaddar Digital ad fraud is estimated to be $65 billion last year. And yet you believe you've solved that? If that's true, you'd make far more selling such tech to Google, Microsoft, Facebook, and others.
