We believe information and transparency are the first steps to bridging the economic opportunity gap, so we created a tool to help anyone find government certified small, economically, and socially disadvantaged businesses to support in the community.
👋 Hi Product Hunters,
I’m Kyle, the CEO and Co-founder of Middesk. We’re super excited to announce the launch of Agent!
Agent makes it effortless for businesses with remote teams to set up and manage the government accounts that are required to pay their employees. 🙌
Over the last two years, Middesk has grown from a team of less than 10 to about 40. Every time we hired an employee in a new state, we got instructions from our payroll provider on how to create government accounts required to pay our new employee. Setting up each state was complicated, slow, and confusing. Once accounts were set up, we managed all ongoing compliance requirements from a spreadsheet to make sure we didn’t miss important deadlines. This tedious and painful experience is what inspired us to build Agent.
Agent is an end-to-end state compliance platform that will:
✅ Create each of the state tax accounts required for processing payroll
🏢 Register your business with Secretary of States
✉️ Receive, process, and extract important tax details from snail mail
♾️ Integrate against your payroll provider to simplify the registration experience
🤝 Identify and import existing Secretary of State accounts
📅 Automatically submit annual reports that the government needs in order to keep your business license active
In addition, Middesk will cover all of the fees that the state charges to register your business, which can be as high as $800! 💸
We’d love for you to check out Middesk’s Agent. For the next year, we’re offering 25% off the creation and management of the government accounts in each new state where you hire employees.
My team and I will be around all day and are excited to hear your feedback!
Middesk has been a critical partner to Brex since we started working with them in 2019. For remote first companies like Brex this adds a lot of value - exciting launch
@charleyma Thanks!
Setting up and managing state tax accounts is something that every business that has employees will have to do, but there are two common use cases:
First, is an early stage company who is hiring their very first employee. Agent adds significant value at this stage since founders are going through this process for the very first time and have so many other things to focus on.
Second, is a company who is scaling a remote team. As the number of states where a company has employees increases (either because people are moving around or because they have just hired new employees in new states), the complexity of registering, tracking reporting deadlines, and keeping all of the accounts up-to-date and in compliance because a major administrative challenge.
Thanks for the question!
