Hi Product Hunt People! 👋 I’d like you to meet Coach, your AI career coach. I’m Jared Chung, Founder and CEO of CareerVillage.org, the nonprofit organization that brings you Coach. Since 2011, CareerVillage.org has served millions of online learners through our open-access Q&A platform that crowdsources career information and advice from real-life professionals (think Reddit for career info). 💡We had been integrating AI into our platform in small ways since 2021, but by March 2023, we realized we could use AI to further scale impact and provide access to high-quality career guidance to many, many more people, particularly youth and adults who have not historically had much access to career support. Congrats on the launch, @jaredchung! I'm curious, how does Coach personalize recommendations for users? Can it adapt to different career paths?

@emilygracethompson Thank you! I answered a similar question in a different comment, so apologies for the repetition, but how Coach can personalize recs and engagement is largely the result of three things: (1) how our team has trained the AI (2) a resource library that we call the Educational Resource Database (ERD), which includes resources from our 20+ partners (educational institutions, workforce boards, other workforce-focused nonprofits) as well as CareerVillage threads (3) the use of activities and modules to organize the way a user interacts with Coach Coach can also remember things like your career goals and interests, in order to better tailor engagement. And, yes, the tool can absolutely provide career-specific advice! And soon, we expect it to get even better, for example, by tailoring guidance that's relevant to your local/regional labor market!
