A new multiplayer-method of learning online. Watch videos, do activities, share perspectives and make friends via Co.Lab’s hybrid-live, instructor-less courses. Go deeper by learning with and from one another in small intimate groups. #LearnTogether
Hey everyone, I'm Sefunmi, one of the Co-founders of Co.Lab along with @herenhuang . Co.Lab is a platform for students to discover and take hybrid-live courses. Our experience makes it easy to learn with and from others in small groups without an instructor present.
Why did we start Co.Lab?
Last year, Helen and I started a Bootcamp to help break folks into the tech industry. We taught classes live for our first few cohorts, but that became unsustainable as we grew and got students across 16 different time zones.
Class scheduling was difficult, and class engagement dropped as class sizes increased. So to solve this problem, we built our platform that took the best of live classes and made it more engaging and flexible. Classes schedules are flexible, and learning happens in small groups, making it more personal for students. Learners are accountable to one another and get to do group activities to apply the concepts they learned in class. Watch some student testimonials.
As a result, we doubled our revenue, scaled the number of students in our Bootcamp while maintaining our quality (NPS 93) and completion rate of over 95%. We've now graduated over 350 students, half of that happening over the last 3 months. You can read more about our journey here
What's next?
We are now enabling other creators to maximize their impact in a sustainable way. Our platform provides an engaging method of delivering an online course while eliminating the burnout that comes with teaching live.
With Co.Lab, it's easy to build an engaging online course that makes learning fun and social. We handle pre-enrollment, payment, hosting and walk you through the exciting process of creating a hybrid-live course. You only have to set it up once (similar to any MOOC), and students get to take classes in cohorts at times that work for them. Making it easy to connect your audience and community members on topics they care about.
We have many ideas, and we're constantly iterating from the feedback to make the learning and instructor experience exceptional. Our goal is to make creators successful by focusing on the things that matter to them so that they can share their knowledge in a scalable way. We can't wait to hear what you think, and we're excited to get this in front of you all today.🙏🏿❤️
@herenhuang@sefunmioshy Very exciting! Congratulations!! I have very much enjoyed being a part of the colab6 and know you bring valuable content 🤩 Learning with others and being able to reflect on what you learn is a great way to learn 😊
We already know how difficult it is for one to learn something new on his or her own and that’s where Co.lab comes in.
A virtual peer-to-peer meetup where we go over topics and share what we have done or doing together makes Co.lab an awesome product.
You should try it 😊
@onyiyaay Thanks for this! We find that part of effective learning is making sure students are held accountable to a sufficient degree - just right that it's incentivizing, but not so much it may become overbearing. And so we came up with Co.Lab Learning! ✨
Really like the default number of participants! 1 on 1 can be sometimes intimidating and any group more than 6 has many of us relegated as background noise. 3 - 4 is just right!
