Checker is an app that can help you make new habits stick and be more consistent with any goal you're working towards. It uses a calendar/mosaic grid to visualize your progress and help you spot behavior patterns.
Hey everyone! I made an app that uses GitHub-style calendar grids for habit/goal tracking. I put a lot of effort into crafting a nice, low-friction user experience and making it feel at home on iOS.
Hope you try it out, and if you do, please feel free to share your thoughts here in the comments or through the app directly (in settings there are a few ways to contact me), I'd really appreciate it.
Also, I'm building this app in public, you can follow the process on my YouTube channel ( https://www.youtube.com/@mykolah...).
@mykola_harmash Hey there Mykola! Congrats on launching your habit tracker app with a GitHub-style calendar grid! That sounds like a unique and visually interesting approach. Here are some questions and how I can help:
- Does your app offer any customization options for the calendar grid or integrations with other productivity tools?
-How does your app ensure the security of user data and offer options for backups or data export?
As a developer, I'm interested in the user interface, potential for customization, and data management features. If those align with my skills, I might be able to contribute to future development.
Overall, your app's calendar-based habit tracking approach sounds innovative. Exploring customization options, integrations with other tools, and robust data security measures could further enhance its value. I'd be happy to see how your app evolves and potentially contribute my skills if relevant!
(P.S. I'll check out your YouTube channel to see more about your development process!)
@max_savonin1 hey! Answering your question:
- Right now the only customization is the board's icon but color themes will be coming soon as well
- All data is stored exclusively on the device and there is an option in settings to export the data
Thank you for your feedback, hope it answers the questions.
Hey Mykola,
Are there any plans to add features like reminders or notifications to help users stay on track with their goals? This could be a great addition.
How does it differ from other habit tracking apps? This looks a lot like some other popular habit tracking apps I've seen.
Congrats on the launch!
@kyrylosilin Hi Kyrylo! Yes definitely, there are a lot more features coming, including as you mentioned, reminders. But also themes, check-in badges, more widget types, etc.
You're totally right that there are quite a few similar apps on the App Store, and I don't want to bash them or anything, some of them are great apps. They just did not fit my particular preferences in terms of simplicity and overall experience. My long-term goal is to have the app on every Apple platform and embrace the ecosystem, meaning to integrate into every system feature that makes sense for this kind of app (think shortcuts, lock-screen widgets, stand-by, control center, etc.).
Another thing is that I built the app for myself with a set of values that are important to me, and those values often do not align with existing apps. I wanted to have it private by design with all data staying on-device, I did not want to have to create an account, I did not want to have a subscription, and other stuff like this.
Hope it makes sense, but let me know if you have other questions, I'd be happy to give more details!
I just came across Checker, and I have to say it's really clean, minimalist, yet powerful! The option to track custom units is a game changer for me! I’ve missed that feature in so many other habit trackers I’ve tried. Great job!
