Greg here, CEO of Capbase. I helped our team create the Startup Equity Calculator. We wanted to fix a problem faced by a lot of new founders who sign up for Capbase.
Capbase incorporates new startups, then gives them everything they need to deal with equity, compliance, and fundraising. But we noticed a lot of new users got hung up in the early stages of startup formation, when it was time to issue shares to their co-founders.
Fair enough: Early-stage equity splits done carelessly can plant the seeds of resentment. And many startups fail because of founder squabbling, often over equity. It’s smart to be cautious.
