Connecting restaurant owners with workers on short notice

Hi! I built a gig marketplace designed to help restaurant owners fill shifts with gig workers in their area. On my marketplace, food service workers build profiles and set their rates. Restaurant managers browse worker profiles and send booking requests.

Hi! Many restaurants are suffering through historic staff shortages. I built a gig marketplace that allows restaurant managers to find workers on short-notice. I have virtually no coding skills, so relied on no/low code tools (Sharetribe + Zapier). There are already a few of these gig platforms, but I felt most took advantage of the workers. Other platforms charge large fees (40% in some cases) on top of the worker wages, and they worked through a job posting format that don't give the workers much influence in the hourly rates. In contrast, I made my marketplace with the intent of giving more leverage to the food service workers: On my platform, workers build their profiles and set their own rates, and restaurant managers send booking requests to the workers. Also, I allow managers to make full-time offers to my gig workers, with no penalty. I want to give workers on my platform opportunities to get new jobs and learn new skills! I charge a low 12% booking fee for hiring managers, and zero for the workers. After I pay Stripe fees, this should leave enough for me to keep the lights on : ) I hope my low fee structure will encourage adoption on the platform, while allowing for higher wages for my workers. While I have no coding experience, I do have 20+ years experience as a hiring manager. I hope to mentor workers on my marketplace with feedback on profile pictures, work attire, and even behaviors that will make them successful in restaurant gigs and future jobs. I really want to lift up and empower our food service workers through this! I've just begun my soft launch, and so far have nearly 400 workers on my platform. I'll shortly begin marketing to restaurants, caterers, and event planners. Thanks in advance for your constructive feedback! ~Bryce
