sage is a new place on the internet for builders, makers, & creators to find and be found by the right group of ppl. any idea goes. a hip-hop album, short film, a novel, some indie software, a youtube channel — whatever.
My twitter feed was buzzing with excitement about sage, so I had to try it out. I was instantly hooked! The community and creativity here are unmatched. I can't wait to see how it evolves.
@lxix@farzatv Congratulations on the launch!
This seems like a vibe, but how do you actually interact with the community?
Are there any groups / chats you can join?
@ai_guitarist I think @farzatv would be the right person to answer this as he's the maker.
From what I have used Sage helps in discovering other makers and collaborating with them.
Big Buildspace fan, so much so we invested at Weekend Fund. Sooo, I'm biased, but love this direction.
I've gained so much connecting with collaborators, mentors, and others throughout my career. But much of that was because I was in the right place (San Francisco for a decade). Sage is for everyone on the internet.
@rrhoover That's right. For most creators outside the US, non-Ivy League students, the only way to get the same booster is through acelerators. But how many people can get trained in them, even online? Not that many. There's about a 1% chance of getting into the program. That's why projects like buildspace are very important. We're solving the same problem, just with slightly different tools, but we're also hoping that just as we once got rid of phone calls to find a cab, to get a chance to build a cool product - you don't have to do cold emails to investors and drink cocktails at parties to make friends with investors.
It can't stay that way for much longer.
After completing the full onboarding (+ full profile completion) I am not so sure people are going to love having an AI re-write their bio after like 20 questions. This novel way of creating a profile I don't think is necessarily beneficial at all.
That's my hot take. The summary wrecked what I wrote. As far as interacting with the free-form prompt interface, I wonder how it will misinterpret what I author next. I don't like having to prompt some black-box LLM in order to update a form field that changes and impacts how I represent myself to a community.
It's like I don't want to have to prompt AI to edit text that is sitting right there, I just want to edit the text.
Noteworthy: The questions are all very serious questions too, like "are you a VC" and "what type of people are you hiring" and "what are your hard skills." Then the AI interprets your answer, and **changes** them -- it's like letting chatgpt write your final draft for something serious and important.
Very interesting and novel interface, however, and cool vibe.
@rowemore That's the feel I got too - it would be amazing to create a draft for your profile, but give you proofreading and final correction :) Otherwise super cool onboarding!
