Hi Product Hunt 👋 I am Saurav, co-founder of BrowserAI.
Over the last two years, we have built and shipped several AI-native products in the development tools space, but we always struggled with keeping the API cost low and ensuring full data privacy for our users. While looking for ways to solve this problem, we came across local LLMs - AI models that are downloaded and run directly in a browser, without the need for API calls and associated costs or data transfer to third-party servers.
At first, we used this as a tool for our own product (AI-generated technical documentation at the time), to keep our AI usage costs down, but we soon realized that more people should have access to this. So we started to build BrowserAI, a library that allows anyone to run local LLMs with just a few lines of code. Today we want to share one of the first tools we built with BrowserAI - the chat.
💬 About BrowserChat
BrowserAI Chat is a simple AI chat interface, just like Perplexity, ChatGPT, etc. The biggest difference? Instead of processing requests through API calls, you can simply download one of the available models (all of them are small LLMs to keep speed and latency to a minimum) and each request will be processed inside your browser. This means that there is no cost associated with a request and no data will leave your device.

BrowserAI currently works on the web only and in the following Browsers: Chrome, and Firefox. Mobile and Safari are currently not supported.
