Hello Product Hunt, a special thanks to @nickabouzeid for relaunching us to the Product Hunt community! This is our second time around and today we're excited to announce Curator Monetization (tipping) on Bookshlf.
Bookshlf Curators create incredible value for our users, and we've been thinking of ways we can drive value back to this new form of digital creator. Today, we're launching Curator Monetization, allowing the Bookshlf community to support Curators via tips (direct payments). Think about tipping the same way you would support a musician in the park -- someone is creating unique value, and you contribute to show support for their cause or to vote with your wallet.
As a special offer for the Product Hunt community, we're offering up to $10 in referral credits to tip Curators on the platform and support independent creators. Just sign up and refer users via the Account Settings > Referral page.
If you're a digital creator, writer, or anyone with a unique perspective and great taste in content, we'd encourage you to join Bookshlf and begin earning money for your unique curation. If you'd instead like to create awareness about a certain cause, Curators can elect to have their tips donated to a charitable organization.
ABOUT BOOKSHLF
There is a problem in the media ecosystem. We have access to more information, content and creativity than at any point in history, but the most popular platforms are only surfacing content that fits their algorithms -- headlines, divisiveness, negativity and personal promotion. We founded Bookshlf on the core belief that when it came to taste and expertise in content, human curation > algorithms.
After building the Bookshlf platform, we witnessed the emergence of a new type of digital creator -- the Curator. Our curators were scouring the internet and creating extraordinary Shelves of content across a wide variety of subjects, from the general to the niche, expressing themselves in a new and unique way. Curators were both professionals and passionate lifelong learners (or both), and Bookshlf gave them a tool to easily share content that was uniquely quality or important, with context and perspective.
