WHY BONFIRES?
I love the internet. I can (read: do) spend all day long surfing the web, learning about things I never knew existed or fully understood, ideas I’d never heard or considered. The internet is my greatest passion.
While much of my surfing is driven by my relentless search for knowledge, I also yearn to connect with people who are encountering the same content as me. With over 1 billion websites (and counting), the internet is vast. I sometimes marvel at how amazing it is that, out of all the sites out there, a unique subset of the approximately 8 billion people on this planet somehow found their way HERE.
Of course, there's no shortage of ways for people to connect around internet content. A sizable portion of social media engagement is largely just link sharing with comments.
That's always seemed a bit backwards to me, or at least inefficient, indirect. Surfacing content to your friends and followers, fostering more discussion, is great. But sometimes the best discussions are had among those who have already found their way to engage with the content in the first place. At least for me.
So... I built Bonfires as a social layer on top of native internet content. Why not enable everyone in the world who is engaging with a particular piece of web content to talk with each other about it right then and there? How cool would that be? That's something I would use all day everyday! I hope you will too!

But why token gate tho?
Great question! As a true internet lover, I'm all in on web3, as it shifts power and control of the internet back to the people (us!). Eventually, Bonfires will be decentralized and run by its users (you!). I'm first inviting true web3 participants in to curate the right vibez, so you must actually own an NFT to get access. Let's do this!!! Once we've reached all the degenz, maybe then we can at least consider allowing the unconvinced in!!!
HOW ACCESS?
That's easy! Just tell us what NFT collection you want us to add to our allow list by tweeting it to our @BonfiresApp account. Eg:
"Please add the [NAME OF COLLECTION] NFT collection to the @BonfiresApp allow list: [CONTRACT ADDRESS]"
You can get the contract address by viewing your NFT on etherscan.io. (Yes - EVM compatible only for the moment.)
