This solves the critical problem of de-humanizing interactions. It continues the great destruction begun by Covid lockdowns and further separates us as humans. Good job on destroying humanity.
Edit:
🙏 in retrospect I was harsh thanks -
@pieterdepauw
Great effort in trying to keep us all safe. Still, people interact with their six senses- sight /sound been primary.
Let’s add a feature that reveals the person behind the mask 👍
@okechukwu_opel_agufuobi 100% agree. This is the most ridiculous product I've seen in my life. The ONE good thing it does is separate the humans from the sheep.
@okechukwu_opel_agufuobi@aleksandar_svetski I am actually quite appalled by the harsh tone you both have chosen to express your negative criticisms. You could at least try not to simply voice your personal frustrations and actually give some relevant and constructive feedback to a person who is also just trying to make a new and innovative product.
You might see masks as de-humanizing but it is actually much more humane to make an conscious effort to keep your fellow humans safe. I'm sure that almost everyone wearing a mask only does that for functional (health and safety) reasons and almost no-one does it in order to destroy human interaction. In fact, I have also experienced myself how the current pandemic has made people often more aware of each other and has strengthened their attempts to compensate for a more difficult communication by patiently looking for a solution. Masks are the symbol of the enlightened humans who are willing to set their ego aside for the benefit of others who depend on it.
I know that this specific model takes the concept of a face mask even further. Probably, that makes you feel uncomfortable. But, dismissing this medical technological progress would be foolish when it might save your life. Deadly viruses have always threatened humanity, but a virus can travel only as far as the cells it infects. For most of human history, that wasn’t very far. Now, we are entering an global age of pandemics. Not all of them will play by the same rules.
On the other hand, there was a time when people were satisfied with this sophisticated piece of technology to keep themselves safe from the Black Death: https://bit.ly/38W5sxf.
So I guess that we can just keep using the good old method of cloth in the 21st century. It won't prevent us from communicate perfectly, but we'll still have to suffer large amounts of deaths! Worth it, @okechukwu_opel_agufuobi ?
@aleksandar_svetski
I'll try to respond to these hefty assertions as a way to possibly further clarify my position - although your unbridled use of a scolding rhetoric seems to suggest that your mind has been made up and any dissenting voices are apparently not welcomed. I would never dispute that you are fully entitled to your own opinions, but those futile efforts to casually attack my character and intelligence might lead someone to believe that your views cannot be defended with rational arguments alone. It's actually quite ironic that you are using that kind of silencing technique to defend the value of freedom.
Your understanding of freedom seems to be based on the assumption that you only have to keep yourself as an individual into account because you are equally the recipient of both its benefits/rights as well as its responsibilities. In practice however, these "costs" and "gains" of our freedoms are almost never distributed as equally and as fair as your ideal supposes. The reason is simply that (unless a person completely abandons society and is fully self-reliant, and even then...) you are benefitting not only from your own work but also are profiting from that of others. Humans have always tended to work together in groups, functioning as a society. Of course, any division of that workload implies that the resulting social agreement between the participants diminishes the absolute freedom of each individual. However, the results of this cooperation and labour specialisation increases productivity and arguably gives us the freedom to live with less worries about basic survival, which you could label 'safety'.
Of course, you do not have to participate at all in society. You can choose to live your life without any regard for any laws. However, when you do participate, you cannot ignore this social contract. You can't have your cake and eat it too. That is the cornerstone of democracy. In fact, if you do enforce from others to respect your personal freedom in the fullest possible form, while still expecting them to make sacrifices in their freedoms to your benefit, YOU ARE THE SUPPRESSOR.
The correct balance between individual freedom and collective should be the transparent and democratic system of government/legislature to decide on and continuously update the laws that we as members of society have compromised to impose upon ourselves. The measuring stick for finding out whether a "society crumbles and turns into tyranny" is to check whether that no-one is surreptitiously being disadvantaged by the others. One way to make a society crumble easily would be to QUESTION ITS STRENGHT AS A WHOLE:
– If you believe taxes are worth it, go ahead and pay them yourself.
– If you believe that good infrastructure is important, go ahead & build your own.
– If you believe that we honor the value of our own freedoms by looking out for the elderly citizens who fought to gave that right to us, then you take some preventive measures to avoid their deaths!
Hey Product Hunters and Blanc-heads!
It’s me, Philip, and I am super excited to have the chance to share with you our recent project — Blanc!
We came up with Blanc as a joint statement against the recent world healthcare and privacy crisis. Our team of well-recognized product designers, PPE engineers, and marketing specialists led by a duo of serial entrepreneurs with a 10+ years corporate footprint worldwide, started designing and developing Blanc earlier this year. And since then we have gone a long and winding road of developing a whole new product category.
We didn’t want to develop an ordinary mask but one that gives the wearers an opportunity to express themselves and tell the world their story through their mask. With Blanc, I believe we have reached that goal!
Packed with 2 SGS-tested replaceable HEPA filters, Blanc makes sure you breathe fresh and clean air no matter where you are. But Blanc is far more than just a standard mask you can order anywhere. Thanks to its modular front panels it allows you to customize your own mask to your outfit and the occasion and express your persona to the world.
We launched Blanc on Kickstarter about 30 days ago and have already raised over $290K.
I would love to hear your feedback, comments and thoughts on the project and I am here to answer any of your questions.
Thanks!
Philip
@filipp_egorov1 You say: "I would love to hear your feedback, comments and thoughts on the project and I am here to answer any of your questions." And then you only interact with positive comments, ignoring anyone skeptical about your product. 🤔
