A privacy-focused iOS app that lets you record video while your screen appears off. Recording discreetly or with fewer distractions can be useful—whether you’re capturing something sensitive or trying to avoid screen glow in dark environments.
Key Features
• Record video and capture photos while the screen appears black
• Support for 4K, 60 FPS, front and rear cameras
• Private gallery — store recordings separately from the system Photos app
• Tap anywhere to start or stop recording
Important Note
Apple does not allow apps to completely remove or hide the camera preview. However, the app lets you resize the preview to a minimal area and reduce screen brightness, making it barely noticeable during use.
Privacy
• No accounts
• No tracking
• No cloud uploads
All photos and videos remain on your device unless you choose to export them manually.
In the free version, photo capture is unlimited, while video recording is limited to 30 seconds per session.
Hey Paweł. How did you come up with this idea? I understand that capturing sensitive content can be ideal, but usually, when I cannot see the "preview", I will do a very poor recording or shot.
Thanks for your comment! Honestly, I don’t remember exactly—this app first launched in 2013, went through several updates, and was eventually removed. Back then, there was no preview at all.
I see your point—fortunately, the preview can be resized and moved anywhere, though it can’t be fully hidden.
I’m planning a new feature that should help with this, especially for taking pictures. Stay tuned!
Hi@busmark_w_nika! Photo burst mode is now available, I think that should help at least when it comes to taking pictures. Now you can take a new photo automatically in every 3, 10 or 60 seconds.

Such a clever approach for discreet recording—impressive! 😄
