Hey Product Hunt!
Biometric measurements captured from medical devices, such as blood pressure gauges, glucose monitors, and weighing scales, are essential tools patients can use to track their own health. Trends in these measurements can accurately track diabetes, cardiovascular issues, and assist medication management for patients. Currently, the majority of patients record their results and date of measurement in a physical notebook. It may be weeks before a doctor sees a patient’s records and can assess the health of the patient. Also, it is rather difficult to extrapolate information from just numbers written in a book. With a predicted 6.8 billion smartphones in the world by 2022, health monitoring platforms, such as Apple's Health app, can be leveraged to provide the right care at the right time.
Over the past few months, I’ve been working on this app. In its essence, Biosnap brings intelligence to your monitor through two key technologies: customized optical character recognition and Apple’s Health platform.
This app enables users to capture medical monitor data using computer vision and automatically record it to their Health app on an iPhone. Our app is backed by a robust backend that can recognize seven segment digits from medical monitors with an accuracy of 98.2%.
Consolidated information within Health makes it simple for both physicians and patients to track important biomarkers. Furthermore, Health has military-grade encryption, ensuring that your data is safe from intruders.
Through Biosnap, anyone can purchase an inexpensive monitor under $20 and still have the internet-based features of premium health monitors. Current internet-connected medical monitors are simply unaffordable for the mass majority of patients. Most people already own a device and they shouldn’t be forced to purchase a new, expensive one. Furthermore, each intelligent monitor has its own data storage system. Biosnap uses Apple Health instead of reinventing the wheel.
A demo video can be seen at https://youtu.be/EMVwX3kedig. Although the name and icon of the app have changed, the user interface and utility of the app have remained untouched.
Any feedback and critiques would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
