BIGSOFTI is a mobile light that works with phones, cameras, tablets and laptops to bring professional lighting principles together into a super lightweight, easy to use gadget so people can benefit from the way professionals do things on a film set.
BIGSOFTI is my first ever product, it's a photography light I've been developing for about 24 months. The inspiration came from the way I light for beauty shots on a TV commercial set - using our biggest, softest lights to make actors and models look great. A big light wraps gently around features on the face, and a soft, diffused light evens out skin tone and smoothes any hard shadows - so bumps and creases disappear. I wanted to bring this to a mobile audience. This is my first foray in product design. We're launching on Kickstarter in a few weeks - would love to hear what people think! Thanks for taking a look.
Al. I'm a TVC director nearing the end of my run, you know what I mean. Anyway, If take some new publicity shots with your awesome light attached, will it make me look young and funnier so agencies think I'm cool?
@josh_logue Hi Josh - thanks for getting in touch. Look, BIGSOFTI will def make your photos look better - but keep in mind that it's a photography light, not a magic wand - so it might be a little outside it's capacities on the 'making you funnier' and /or 'cool' front.
@al_morrow Thanks for the swift response. Magic wand it probably isn't...but i already have one of those (wink wink). Anyway...i'm really excited to buy a bunch of your lights and set them up as a light wall in my home studio.
@aimanfarooq thank you! LUME have made some great action related products over the years. Looking at a few of their tech specs on their closest product offering, I'd be keen to see the details on the CRI rating which they have cited at 96+. The CRI score inherently shifts through the different colour temperature range so that would be an interesting comparison as to which end of the spectrum it is scoring 96+ at. We are citing 95+ but that is our lowest score at the Daylight end of the spectrum. It's 97 at our Clean White, and 98 at the Tungsten end. We're using a newly released bi-color LED that hasn't been used in products as small as BIGSOFTI before - so our scores should stand out. Also the TLCI (television lighting consistency index) score on our components score a 98 at Daylight and 99 at both Clean White and Tungsten - so the TLCI would be an interesting score to know about the Lume panel. From a functional and pricing perspective, BIGSOFTI's standard pack comes with 3 versatile attachments straight out of the box without additional components. Looks like BIGSOFTI is ever so slightly bigger - and weighs a touch less than the Lume Cube option. But once we get our final production models out and tested, we'd love to get a side by side done. 👍 Thanks man. al
