Great tech behind this but super misleading description. Stable Diffusion and Dreambooth are free ai models. You basically just run it by popping into google colab and run the scripts one by one, including sending photos and end up with unlimited variations of yourself based on your prompts. Since most people are clueless it is free, there are service like Astria_Ai which Pieter also uses which allow for sending of the pictures and training the model via api (in effect skipping the colab part and providing easy access to some running batches). Astria charges $3, Pieter charged $30 for a couple days of his time coming up with prompts. Now Astria_Ai caught up to that and bumped their pricing to $20 so Levels had to increase his offering to $40 (still 50% margin for just prompts). This is all fine and well but I hate the fact Levels hid that and is just reselling astria_ai service for 10x, now 2x based on a few fun days of trying a few different prompts. Also blocking people for voicing that they felt misled on twitter was totally out of character. Good luck, more transparency should be best.

@jeffcollins no need. It's just product market fit. He demoed a cool product & people are happy to pay such. If you are talking about such technicality, `Stable Diffusion and Dreambooth are free ai models.` this is wrong too on many levels.

@arunoda_susiripala You can decide to look at this any way you like. This is basically a package of some prompts that are executed on astria servers and sent back to clients at a substantial overcharge, which is fine, however reading the description it sounds like something else entirely.

@jeffcollins yup, the most hilarious part is he actually modified his 8K screenshot on Twitter (to hide the name of the API maker) and then hid this comment of the guy who pointed it out: https://twitter.com/rainprofits/... @jeffcollins You are correct. It’s like $2-4 of colab time with exorbitant pricing under the guise of it being technical when it is not. The prompts are likely from Lexica.art or another repository. This is nothing special, Astria was cool as a consumer gateway to dreambooth; if they raised the cost due to this type of lazy business that is incredibly lame but understandable. People are happy as long as they don’t know they were marketed away from a cost accessibility that is basically everywhere. There will always be shisters that price things as if they created it from scratch, covering up the endpoints is just silly.
