Hello Hunters 👋
My name is Taylor and I’m on the marketing team @MetaLab.
MetaLab helps ship products loved by billions of people. You may not have known it at the time but chances are you’ve used a product we’ve helped build—think Slack, Uber, and Pitch.
Now, when I say we, I mean the super talented product thinkers at our company, not me specifically.
I may not have a hand in helping our clients get to market but it is my job to tell the stories of how our team got there. You can think of me as MetaLab’s official portfolio maker.
While building out MetaLab’s portfolio over the past couple of years, my team began to notice a problem. It was really hard to find high-quality mockups and stock photos that represent the folks that use the products we work on.
“Used by billions” means our work lands in the hands of folks from all different backgrounds, of all walks of life— not just the pretty manicured hands of white folks you find in most stock photos (sorry it has to be said).
Now there are some sites working towards this. Shoutout to Unsplash and Stocksy. But none of them were designed for product designers. It felt like the perfect problem for MetaLab to help solve.
We found Nappy—a team on a mission to share beautiful photos of Brown and Black people, for free—and asked if we could contribute to their goal in some small way.
Together, we partnered to create All Hands— a collection of 25 photos featuring folks of all shades, shapes, and sizes. This plugin is the latest piece of that project. There are also layered PSDs and more photos available at nappy.co/all-hands.
With the All Hands Mockup Generator, you can create beautiful (and diverse) mockups of your work in two clicks.
It’s so easy, even I can use it (and that’s really saying something).
Install All Hands to your Figma and see for yourself 😄
We hope you’ll use the plugin to improve representation when showing off your work.
Shoutout to our partners at Nappy who made all this possible. And to all the members of the MetaLab team who volunteered their time to get these hands out in the wild.
