While multiple platforms exist that aim to help people with disabilities find accessible places, Accuguide stands out as a completely community-driven platform for people to find and rate accessible places on any device using a variety of accessibility indicators. Accuguide also responsibly integrates AI by giving people accessibility summaries of any of the millions of places they may look up. Accuguide also aims to be part of the disabled community through its social medias, its upcoming blog, and its committment to increasing accessibility for all! This product is still new and it set to recieve many features and improvements created not only by me but various open-source contributors as well! Don't forget to star Accuguide on Github to stay updated on new features and improvements!
Pros:
I’ve observed that Accuguide aggregates millions of locations via the Google Maps API, allowing users to search for places—like restaurants, shops, or public venues—and rate them based on real-world accessibility features such as ramps, restroom access, spacing, and more
It’s community-driven, letting individuals submit reviews and accessibility indicators, and further enhances usability with AI-generated summaries powered by Llama 3.3 (via Groq) to quickly convey a location’s accessibility status
It’s also fully open-source, enabling contributions from developers and advocates
Cons:
Accessibility indicators rely on user submissions, meaning quality may vary and not every location will yet have comprehensive insights or up-to-date updates.
