Hi Product Hunt, Second time maker, but first time launching something a bit more specific/event based! Super excited for you all to check it out and to see how we can build on it in the future. Here are some of the core thoughts that went into building this: Way more great companies apply to YC every season than they could possibly accept. We think the YC application is generally an awesome way to present a company (or future company) to potential investors/supporters. There are a lot of other great investors/accelerators out there that are interested in this stage of company. The conversion rate on finding an investor is super low (even for the best companies). Given a low conversion rate - call it 1% - founders need to get in front of at least 100 investors to expect a positive outcome. It’s really hard for the typical founder to get in front of 100 investors. 1000x takes all the information you already put together for your YC application and gets it out to over 1000 investors. Really as simple as that. We hope that through that added exposure more founders will find supporters. The investors in the group span a wide range of thesis/interest, but they are all active investors and we don’t distribute the information publicly. If there are parts of the application that a founder doesn’t want to include in the 1000x version they can simply take it out and still take advantage of the exposure. How it works more specifically: After you submit your YC application they forward you a copy via email in a text format. We have an email address and (very basic) program set up that will parse through the YC format to pull out all the information into a spreadsheet. That spreadsheet will then be shared with a group of over 1000 investors that we’ve put together through our work with Open Scout and OnePager. From there, investors are encouraged to reach out to founders directly if it’s of interest or if it’s preferred we’re happy to make the connection. That’s it! If even one company finds an investor through this program we’d consider it a huge success.
