Does over hyping/selling products during pre launch kill a product?

We all know you should start marketing before you start building the product, but does it end up hurting the launch setting unrealistic expectations?

Sell the problem your product solves. Relate with users with those problems. Build a community of users with similar problems. Then launch.

@rangarajan_nallappa this is a wonderful idea. Instead of pitching the product, pitch the problem and see how far it resonates! Really good one.

Depends on the product and its quality and how much value can it add.. Over hyping a product which is poor quality and adds hardly any value to people will be a blunder.

@amit_arora But I am curious, on how to measure hype vs over hype - Obviously messaging is one area that is a qualitative measure but any quantitative measures would also help a lot.

@laxman_karthik over hype is the bubble which is high likely to burst 😊 and the creator also know that.
