Where to write, to avoid paywalls (aka, not Medium)

Hi all - I want to write a series of blog posts on how to use Metabase to establish and monitor essential product analytics, without spending any money. In the past, I've written on Medium, but I don't like the idea of people being paywalled out. I'm thinking about just doing a Wordpress install on a custom domain. Aside from losing discoverability (via a hosted platform like medium), anything else I'm missing? (if you're interested in analytics, or want to measure your product performance using free tools, follow me - I'll launch the series on product hunt so you'll be notified when I do so).
