If you're looking to hire a Java programmer, there are several steps you can follow to ensure you find the right candidate for your needs. Here's a guide on how to hire a Java programmer: Define Your Requirements: Start by clearly defining your project requirements and the skills you're seeking in a Java programmer. Consider the specific domain, frameworks, libraries, and technologies relevant to your project. This will help you identify candidates with the appropriate skill set. Job Description: Create a detailed job description that outlines the responsibilities, qualifications, and experience required for the Java programmer role. Be specific about the Java versions, frameworks (e.g., Spring, Hibernate), tools (e.g., Maven, Gradle), and other technologies they should be familiar with. Highlight any additional desired skills such as database knowledge, web development, or cloud platforms. Source Candidates: Utilize various channels to source potential candidates. Post the job description on job boards, professional networking sites, and relevant online communities. Reach out to your professional network and consider partnering with recruitment agencies specializing in technical roles. Resume Screening: Review the resumes or CVs you receive and shortlist candidates who meet your requirements. Look for relevant Java programming experience, proficiency in required frameworks and tools, and any additional skills or certifications that demonstrate their expertise. Technical Assessment: Conduct a technical assessment to evaluate the candidates' Java programming skills. This can be done through coding challenges, online coding platforms, or technical interviews. Consider assessing their knowledge of core Java concepts, object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and their ability to solve real-world programming problems. Personal Interview: Conduct in-person or virtual interviews with the shortlisted candidates. Use this opportunity to gauge their communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and cultural fit within your organization. Ask questions about their past Java projects, their approach to software development, and how they handle challenges specific to Java programming. Practical Assignments: Consider assigning a practical task or a small coding project to the top candidates. This will allow you to assess their coding style, organization, and overall approach to software development. It also provides insight into their ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient Java code. Check References: Once you have identified a promising candidate, request references from their previous employers or colleagues. Contact these references to gain insights into the candidate's work ethic, reliability, teamwork, and overall performance. Cultural Fit: Assess whether the candidate will fit well within your organization's culture and work environment. Consider their ability to collaborate with teams, adapt to changes, and communicate effectively. Offer and Onboarding: Once you have selected the ideal Java programmer, extend an offer that includes salary, benefits, and any other relevant details. Upon acceptance, facilitate a smooth onboarding process, providing them with the necessary resources and access to get started on their role. By following these steps, you can increase your chances of hiring a skilled and suitable Java programmer who can contribute to the success of your projects.

Depends what you need. If you need someone to build your MVP for a cutting edge product. then hire a 10x dev. IF you need someone to tweak things in a startup that is in operation mode. then go with a Normie dev. The delta between a normie dev and a 10x dev is immense tho. But so is the price you pay in equity and salary.
